Our trip to the Magic Kingdom started out at a near freezing temperature of 45 degrees. As we loaded the tram from the parking lot we noticed a lot of people around us wearing shorts and t-shirts. We came to find out they were from Canada. Now, I know we have been living in Florida for awhile now, but 45 degrees is cold!! We had the girls bundled up in winter coats, hats and blankets and had lots of layers of clothes on to shed as the day got warmer. The day did warm up quickly, it ended up being one of those gorgeous Florida days that makes you glad you live here. However, in my hast to pack all our "winter" attire, it never crossed my mind to pack sunscreen, so we all ended up with some pink cheeks and noses.
Some friends of ours told us to be sure to get Emily the "Happy Birthday Button" at Guest Services when we first went in the park. Emily got special treatment from everyone who saw her. The characters took extra time with her and any Disney employee we passed stopped to wish her a Happy Birthday. She loved every minute of it! She even got a special kiss blown to her from Prince Charming in the parade.
After our visit with Pooh, Tigger and Darby; Emily decided she did not like the "fuzzy" characters. Our visit with Mickey was interesting as she hid on the other side of Nana.
The best part of the day was meeting the princesses. The look on Emily's face when we walked into the room with Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Belle was priceless. She was very curious as to where their princes where and kept asking Cinderella in particular where Prince Charming was. Peyton especially LOVED Belle's yellow dress. When we were taking pictures of her with Belle she kept trying to grab it and stick it in her mouth. Belle was very sweet to her and didn't seem to mind.
Emily rode her first roller coaster, Goofy's Barn Stormer. This made Chris especially happy. She loved it of course, so it looks like we have another roller coaster fan in the house.
By the time we got Emily's face painted and had lunch she was exhausted. Chris, Mom Mom, and Nana took her on a Small World while Peyton and I held a place for the parade. Emily passed out on Mom Mom's shoulder in line and didn't wake up until we met up again for the parade.
Finally it was off to take a magic carpet ride and meet Emily's favorite princess, Jasmine. Emily sang "A Whole New World" the entire time we were on the carpet ride. It was too cute. Aladdin gave her a special "gem" for her birthday, which she LOVES!
We sat down to have some ice cream before heading home and noticed the Genie had joined Jasmine and Aladdin. Emily became very concerned over whether he had feet or not. If he had feet it meat he was free. So, we had to check out the Genie (from a far mind you, because he was fuzzy mind you. We discovered he had feet so all was well with the world.
At the end of the day while we were get a few last pictures in front of the castle, one of the Disney employees came over to us to wish Emily a Happy Birthday. He asked her who her favorite character was and of course she replied Jasmine. He then asked her if she like Mickey Mouse and she told him no because he was fuzzy. Then he asked her if she would like a chocolate Mickey and pulled out one of the ice cream bars shaped like ears. Of course she said yes and she enjoyed her ice cream bar thoroughly. .
It was so much fun to experience the Magic Kingdom for the first time again through her eyes. Everything was so new and exciting and she LOVED every minute of it. She is already asking when we can go back again!
