The last 2 days have been pretty eventful ones in the Finch household. On Wednesday we went to the Open House at Emily's school to meet her teacher. Emily had a great time. We were given a passport of different things we had to do around the room for which we were rewarded with a sticker for each completed task. Emily found her cubby hole, got her picture taken, made a fish craft, ate a snack at her seat, played on the playground and dressed up as a doctor. She didn't want to leave when it was time and was VERY excited to come back the next day.
After lunch, Emily sat down next to me and she felt really warm. I got out the thermometer to take her temperature and she was running just below 102. After some Tylenol and a nap she was feeling better. Until she got in the car with her Daddy to come visit me at work. I'll spare you the details, but if you ask Chris what happened next was GROSS!
So we were unsure of what to do about school the next day. We decided to make a decision based on how she was in the morning.

When Emily woke up yesterday she had no fever and had not been sick since the one incident in the car with Chris. It was obvious that Emily was feeling much better so off to school I took my first born. Emily went right in and barely even noticed when Peyton and I left. I think the only one that cried was Peyton when her sister was no longer next to her in the car.
Peyton and I headed to DaSilva's to get a pumpkin spice latte and then we were off to church for the Women's Bible Study we've been attending. As the Bible Study was wrapping up, I received a call on my cell phone from our good Josh. I quickly bumped it into voicemail to call him back later. About 5 minutes later my phone rang again and it was Chris. I quickly grabbed my things, explained to the ladies I had to take the call and walked out to the hall. Chris informed me he had just talked to Josh and little Cayden had the flu. My heart sank. He then went on to say our mutual pediatrician thought I should bring the girls in, since they had been around Cayden and had been running fevers on and off (probably making them the culprits in little Cayden getting the flu.) Immediately my brain started thinking about all the places we'd been this week and how many people we had infected with the flu.
So, I made an appointment for the girls in the afternoon as I drove to pick up Emily, who had a GREAT first day at school by the way. We made a brief stop at home for a quick lunch and then headed to our 1:30 appointment. The girls were both tested for the flu and strep throat since the doctor discovered their throats were both red and swollen. Fortunately all test came back negative. Then it happened, the doctor said we should go ahead and get flu shots for both the girls. Emily lost it at the word shot and the next 30 minutes while we awaited the nurse for our shots were awful. Once the nurse arrived she administered the shots quickly and soothed the girls by giving them lollipops for being great patients.
In the end, we left the doctors office with 2 flu shot, 2 prescriptions for Tamiflu (since they have both been exposed to the flu), and 2 prescriptions for antibiotics to deal with the infections in their throats.
This is how I felt by the time we got home!!!!

(This is actually Peyton during our brief stop home, she was pooped out from the mornings activities and crashed on the floor for a little bit.)
Needless to say we are ready for a less eventful Friday. Chris has an away game tonight, so I promised Emily we'd go rent a movie and pop some popcorn. I'm looking forward to lots of playing and snuggling with my girls today and not so much running around!
